Lochlea is a family-owned distillery, located on the family farm, which provides the grain, from which the whisky is made. The farm was tended to by Scottish poet Robert Burns, when he resided in the area, between 1777 and 1784.
 
The distillery was established in 2018 with ex-Laphroaig distillery manager, John Campbell coming on board several years later.
 
This whisky is matured in a combo of first fill bourbon, oloroso sherry butts and STR (shaved, toasted and re-charred) casks for at least 3 years. The whisky is of natural colour and hasn't been chill-filtered.
 
Nose: Typical lowland style, with fresh cut grass & fresh fruit really coming through
 
Palate: Vanilla, fresh fruit, nuts with pepper & rye spices
 
Finish: Long vanilla finish with this spice notes still evident
