Bladnoch Vinaya
Bladnoch Vinaya
Single Malt Scotch Whisky - Lowlands - 46.7% ABV
Founded in 1817 by John & Thomas McClelland
Bladnoch is located in the Lowlands (Dumfries & Galloway). Over its long history it has changed hands several times, been mothballed & revived. In 1993 it closed, reopening in 2000 under Northern Irish ownership. Later in 2015 it was bought by Australian entrepreneur David Prior, who has invested in modernising & reviving production.
Vinaya” is a Sanskrit word meaning respect & gratitude. The expression forms part of the newer core range / classic collection expressions. It incorporates whisky from both “old” distillation eras & the “new” system. The maturation uses a combination of first-fill ex-Bourbon barrels & first-fill ex-Sherry casks. This blending of casks is the first time Bladnoch has released, combining those two first-fill cask types.
