“anCnoc” is Gaelic for “the hill” and was adopted in 1994
The Distillery draws its water from springs on Knock Hill and uses pot stills with tall, narrow necks, designed much like the traditional worn tub design from the 1890s. AnCnoc produces a modest 1.5 to 2 million litres of Whiskey per year with a combination of American oak ex-bourbon and Spanish oak ex-sherry casks used in production for the core range. The warehouses have thick granite walls for temperature stabilityThis particular expression is labelled the perfect starter dram from the distillery and is distilled at 40% for the European & UK market, with some markets including the USA, getting 43% and 46% bottlings.
Nose: Malty with Citrus & Honey standing out
Palate: Light Madeira, subtle spices, hint of chocolate & toasted oak
Finish: Medium warm, oaky & light spice
