The Connacht Distillery has just released its first expression (Connacht Batch 1) The first whisky distilled in Mayo for over 150 years.
Whilst they waited for there 4 year old single malt to mature, they sourced this approachable grain Irish Whisky.
 
The Mash Bill is 93% Corn & 7% malted barley, matured for 4 years before being finished for 6 months in sweet red tawny port cask which infuse deep flavours and risch colour to the expression.
 
The aim of the distillery is to combine the craft and passion from two families to create high quality whisky in the heart of the west of Ireland.
 
Nose: Sweet & Floral with a hint of vanilla
 
Palate: Dark fruit, touch of expresso & brown sugars
 
Finish: a light spicy finish with underlying sweetness
